An afternoon at the Zoo

Me and my daddy checking out the monkeys

I like the zoo!

learning about elephants

and lions, too!

and a real life Sophie!!!

A few lessons learned from our first trip to the zoo:
1.) You'll be there MUCH longer than you think you will, 2). Don't wear flip-flops. Sneakers are a much better choice, 3.) Bring your own food. Food at the zoo is expensive, not very healthy and also not very good.

I'm 10 months old today!

I can't believe our little baby boy is 10 months old today! And he's not so little anymore. I am reminded every day that he is growing....FAST! I can't believe how fast actually. I want to slow things down a bit! I know Scott would disagree with me on this one, but I'm starting to miss the days of hugging and holding and rocking him to sleep!!!

Hudson has gained a new sense of independence with his recent ability to crawl around on his own. He's waaayyyyy too busy to stop and visit with mommy. Unless of course he bangs into something and then of course, it's mommy to the rescue! Although he regularly takes a break to pet Dulce or play with kitkat. Both of whom are extremely tolerant of Hudson's aggressive manner.

He's changing so much and I'm amazed at how much of a little person he is now. His personality is really starting to show and boy is he persistent! Some may say strong-willed, earnest, tenacious, unwavering....Scott likes to say "pigheaded", but I'm not very fond of that term. Call it what you like, this little boy is serious and determined. Wonder where he gets that? Hmmm...

Hudson is also talking up a storm! Favorite words are "ya, ya, ya, ya" and "a-ga, a-ga, a-ga" and occasionally he'll slip in a "da-da" on you. Although it's not directly at da-da, we still like to think he might intend for it to be.

I took these photos at the park yesterday where we met another little boy named Hudson. This is the second Hudson we've met at this park which leads me to believe Hudson is becoming a very trendy name. Boo!!! Exactly what we were trying to avoid. Oh-well, what can you do?

While at the park yesterday Hudson was once again mistaken for a girl. Really? I mean, look at him? I see all BOY. But, it's time to get serious now. We're shifting our wardrobe choices. All trucks, tractors, lizards and such from here on out. We're gonna look tough. And if he still gets mistaken for a girl, well....I just don't know. What can I say, he is a "pretty boy."

Everyone loves his eyes, too. He gets so many compliments on his beautiful blue eyes! Then people look at me and say, "oh, he must look like his daddy!" Ummm, no. We don't know where those eyes came from, but we're glad he has them. They sure are beautiful!

Happy 10-month birthday my little Hud-Bug. We love you so!!!!!

how I spent my morning

discovered the fireplace

played with the cat, one of my favorite activities

actually played with one of my toys, but really I just like to turn it upside down and see what's happening on the bottom

talked to mommy for a little while

and of course, what morning would be complete without me crawling around all over the place?

Pretty Boy?

Yesterday while Hudson and I were out and about, someone said to me, "what a pretty little girl!"...Huh? He's wearing navy blue and gray (adorable outfit courtesy of gramma and grampa M)...hmmm....I must have looked at her funny because then she said, "it is a girl, right?". I said, "no, he's a little boy." She said, "oh, well he's such a pretty boy!". We get this a lot. I guess it's a compliment, so we'll take it. Though I don't think Hud is gonna like being a called a "pretty boy" as he gets older. I must admit, I do think he's an adorable baby, so I can see where they are coming from....
You might notice two things from this post that are new. One- Hud is standing on his own- okay, well he's got a little help from the ottoman, but I don't have to hold onto him anymore and he'll stand there for a long time perfectly content with his hand in his mouth (of course). And two- we re-vamped our living room in an effort to make it more "baby friendly". We're really happy with both of these developments.

DOC Band Graduate

Yippee! Hudson has completed his DOC Band treatment, so no more helmet!! We are so glad that we decided to do it, Hudson has made significant improvements and overall we couldn't be happier! We were contemplating a second DOC Band over the last few weeks, visited with our pediatrician about it, and talked at great length about whether or not we wanted to do a second one, and ultimately decided against it. At our graduation visit, even our Cranial Technologies consultant said she thought we were making the right decision. If there were to be any improvements with a second band, they would be very minor and there was a big chance we'd be disappointed. Hudson's head looks great! I tried taking some photos of it, but as you can see there is no slowing down for the camera these days! He's still moving around like crazy! Where this kid gets his energy is beyond me! You'd think all the moving around would make him so tired he'd nap for hours...not this kiddo! Half an hour twice a day is all I need! (yawn). On another note, Hudson picked up his second cold this week and has been feeling pretty yucky. His pediatrician said we could give him Benadryl at nap time and bedtime - it's supposed to make him tired and the Dr. said he'd sleep longer. Yeah, right. You don't know Hudson. Even with a dose of Benadryl this kid only sleeps half an hour (again, yawn). He decided to share his cold with mom and dad, too. Thanks, Hud. We're all feeling a bit better today though and are on the up and up. Dallas is having beautiful Fall weather, and it won't last long so we're hoping to get out and enjoy it while it's here.
