Gypsy Wagon Photo Shoot

A few weeks ago one of my favorite stores, The Gypsy Wagon invited a local photographer to come to the store and do mini photo sessions for kiddos. There were only 8 spots offered, so I was one of the first to sign up. Hudson was so great at the photo shoot and he had a blast. Jenny, the photographer commented that he was her easiest, most laid back kiddo for the day...awwwwe.
I was patiently awaiting an email from Jenny to let me know the photos were ready for viewing when I received this on Wednesday:

Hi there Shelley -
Working on finalizing the TGW photos and thought you would enjoy this one. Every wednesday myself and few other photographers do a 'wordless wednesday'. basically an image/post with no words - just one image. Check out who is up there this week… : )

And if that wasn't enough...yesterday she sent out the proofs and they are beautiful!
When you look at Hudson's gallery - you'll see a bunch of thumbnails. Click on them and they become larger. Then just slide through them all and enjoy. You can view them here:

Word Explosion

It's no secret that we've been waiting and waiting and waiting for words to come. One of us worried more than the other (I won't say who). We even had an impromptu speech evaluation during one of our food therapy sessions as a result of said worrier. The results of which stated that Hudson was well within the normal range for boys who typically develop language later than girls. Despite all the reassurance from the Doctor and the Speech Therapist, we (again, one of us more than the other) were a little worried. For the longest time Hudson's words were "baaalll" and "pap" (the meaning of which is still being determined). Then came along "app-le" which was encouraging, but weeks went by with no additional words. Occasionally a word would come out perfectly pronounced, like "car" and then we'd never hear it again, despite our desperate attempts to make it happen. Well, we can safely say, worry no more, folks, this kid is TALKING! As we suspected it would, it sort-of just happened overnight and now Hudson's language is developing at a rate so fast I can hardly keep up! Not only is he actually saying a ton of words, he's making attempts to say them all. Finally, we (ok, Scott) can stop worrying! I know I should be writing all of his words down, but I haven't gotten there yet. If only there was more time in a day...let me specify- more time in a day where I wasn't completely and totally exhausted. If only...

Here are some of Hudson's new words:
  • Apple (as I mentioned, this one has actually been around a while, but it's one of my favorites)
  • All Done
  • Up (also used for down and help)
  • More (with the sign)
  • Tractor
  • Purple
  • Flower
  • Cup (p'up)
  • Truck
  • Turtle
  • Caterpillar (Pa'Pilla)
  • Boo-Boo
  • Baby (ba-baa)
  • Star
  • Heart
  • Moon
  • Sun
  • Brown Bear, Brown Bear (Bra Baa, Bra Baa)
  • Panda Bear, Panda Bear (Pa Baa, Pa Baa)
  • Cracker
  • Water
  • Da-Da (in reference to Da-Da, Mommy is still waiting on Ma-Ma and would also gladly accept mommy)
  • Hot (surprisingly this wasn't a first word, given it's 110 here daily)

when you're sick you still get boo-boos

So, I've been feelin' a little under the weather the last few days. Mommy says I caught a cold, which I don't really understand because it's really, really hot outside. Maybe I don't quite grasp this hot/cold thing yet? I learned this week that being sick means I'm really grumpy. It also means I don't sleep very well at night (or during my nap for that matter), I don't eat (but I drink quarts and quarts and quarts of pedialyte), and boogie wipes become my friend. I learned that when you're sick you have to skip your gymboree class, and a play date with your best buddy Ethan. I also had to miss Scribbles and Dribbles this morning. I learned that I shouldn't go to class even though I told mommy I was feeling okay. She says I might get the other kiddos sick. I learned that when you're sick you stay at home a lot. I've been staying busy though, spent a lot of time reading, which is my very favorite thing to do in the whole wide world. Elmo likes to read with me, too. This morning we spent a little time outside and I learned a very valuable lesson: when you're sick you still get boo-boos.

iPhone Favorites

I was looking through my iPhone photos this morning and realized there were a lot of good ones that I never got to the blog. Here are a few of those recent photos. Enjoy.

Walking "Mr. Hippo" out on the deck.

Swimming with my daddy.

I helped mommy pot these flowers.
She couldn't have done it without me and my shovel, you know.

Really, could I be any cuter?

Again...could I be any cuter?

I'm thinking I have a future in the Opera.

I'm trying to fill up the water bowl for Willy Wonka and Dulce,
but it's not as easy as mommy makes it look!

Mommy has learned that a trip to
Barnes and Noble makes me VERY happy.
I am always drawn to CARS the movies stuff,
even though I've never seen it.

ELMO!
What is Elmo doing here?
He belongs at home, doesn't he?
This is very confusing...

I'm really trying to get my point across here,
do you think I'm convincing?

Hud and Ethan hangin' out.

Aren't they cute?
They really are so much fun to watch together.

Let me translate...
In Hud-lingo this is "blow kisses".

And...of course, the greatest invention in the entire world,
according to the Hud anyways, a baaaaaaall.

We are very proud of our little swimmer who has been going underwater now for three weeks! Here is a very brief video of it all captured on FLIP!

More 4th of July Weekend Pics

Just wanted to share a few additional pics from last weekend. I realized after I posted the first round of pics that Hudson looks like he's sunburned. Rest assured that kid was lathered up in SPF 50, but his cheeks turn red when he's hot, so... not to worry (if you were), he's not sunburned, just hot. (and cute!).

Grammy and Grampa's visit last week

Last week my grammy and grampa M to came to visit me.
We had lots of fun!
This was right before my swimming lesson. The swim teacher makes me wear two swim diapers, and mommy puts on one extra - that's why my pants are so puffy.

I really like it when my grampa lifts me up waaaaaayyyyy high in the air!! I don't really like to look at the camera when mommy has it out. I just don't feel like it sometimes.

Grampa read lots of stories to me when he was here.
He even got a few tickles in on me which always make me laugh!

Grammy played with me and even tickled me too!!
I hope I get to see my grammy and grampa again soon!
